'Working with COLEG on the China Project was an engaging process for me. It was also a broadening experience which is already influencing the way I approach my own work. Despite heavy deadline pressures, this was a thoroughly worthwhile experience.'
Janice Bayne, Central College of Commerce
The development of new writers and peer reviewers is a key aspect of COLEG's activities. Training seminars, workshops and one-day conferences are all used to equip college staff with the necessary skills to meet the changing demands of the learning sector. COLEG encourages the sharing and exchanging of ideas, including the use of new technologies.
COLEG's network of key contacts (one per member college) also creates a sharing and learning environment within which new ideas and initiatives are constantly being exchanged and refined.
Participants in COLEG projects appreciate the intrinsic value of involvement. Sharing ideas, approaches and technical knowledge were identified as key benefits by those working on the instructional design project, a development which involved teams from 7 colleges. Even those commissioned to write traditional open learning packs – a generally solitary task – gained an intimate knowledge of their subject matter and its delivery potential.
